Side Effect was considered by some L.A.'s answer to Gladys & the Pips. They'd recored a few lps before The 1976 LP "What U Need". WYN was their biggest LP(Always There is a classic) and featured future contemporary gospel star Helen(Lowe)Baylor on lead(1976). Sylvia St. James(Lead 1977-1978 and maybe 75-76)was also a great singer later doing 2 great solo records w/Larry Dunn of EWF and Andre Fisher from Rufus producing. R& B star Miki Howard also was in the group during their later years at Electra from 1979-1982 & had great solo success in the late 80's & early 90's at Atlantic. They were fantastic, but never were able to duplicate the success of What Need, again thanks 4 letting the world know about this great talent!!!
